The experienced police officer has important knowledge, skills and abilities gained through study and life experiences. The goal of this course is to assist instructor candidates in developing the ability to research, prepare and communicate that knowledge to others. Emphasis will be placed on the development and enhancement of competency in those practical and tested instructional skills and techniques required for productive and efficient training results. Training materials will focus on: setting instructional objectives; planning of training; the factors which influence adult learning and which modify behavior; the development of communication skills; the instructional process; and methods of evaluating course effectiveness. A significant portion of this course will be devoted to developing the ability to use these skills in presenting training material. Each participant will gain practical experience by giving several oral presentations before the group. The training materials are specific and are designed to maximize the efficiency with which all trainees achieve the specified objectives. 40-hrs Total (CEH: 14-hours Technical Skill; 1-hour Legal Studies; 10-hours Interpersonal Perspectives & 15-hours Skill Development) |
