Crisis / Hostage Negotiation - Level I CORRECTIONS

The Crisis/Hostage Negotiation Course (Level I/Corrections) is a practical introductory course of instruction for newly assigned negotiators or negotiators having a five-year or more lapse in negotiation training and who are assigned duties in a correctional environment or who are assigned duties as a negotiator likely called to respond to a correctional crisis . This basic course meets most state and federal training requirements for crisis-hostage negotiator certification, is trained in accordance with guidelines established by the National Council of Negotiation Associations. This course is designed to prepare law enforcement/corrections personnel to mitigate threats involving barricaded subjects, suicidal subjects, hostage takers, and others presenting behaviors associated with victim precipitated homicide or suicide by cop. This course focuses on challenges unique to the correctional environment. The course includes two real-time, challenging practical exercises that address course training objectives and are developed specifically to reflect realistic crisis problems experienced in a contemporary corrections environment.
