This course provides law enforcement officers with a legal perspective on the cases involving vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assaults and other alcohol-related offenses. Officers are instructed on the case law and statutes that define what constitutes a manslaughter or vehicular assault. Instruction will cover the investigation from start to finish and what is needed in the investigation to confront anticipated defenses related to these cases. There is also discussion related to the latest case law that governs blood alcohol testing in theses cases, as well as procedures for obtaining blood samples.
