Psychological Aspects of Policing

Psychological Aspects of Policing is an 8-hour advanced course for law enforcement professionals. This course will provide an in-depth look at Law Enforcement and the Psychological Crisis, Personality Disordered Subjects, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, and Schizophrenia as it applies to policing.  Students will be given guidance in mitigating threats involving the mentally ill and the emotionally disturbed who are experiencing a psychological crisis.  Special emphasis will be placed on risk-effective communication techniques. 

This course is appropriate for police officers, investigators, parole and probation professionals, police dispatchers, school resource officers, corrections personnel, and non-law enforcement personnel supporting law enforcement activities.
