Basic Investigative Report Writing goes beyond the academy in preparing law enforcement professionals to write effective investigative reports.  This hands-on course will walk participants through the process of preparing information for the investigative report, addresses elements of proof in report writing, the principles of technical police writing, common errors in report writing, handling restricted information, writing use of force and other specialized reports, as well as ethics in report writing.  The course is intended for any law enforcement professional tasked with writing or reviewing investigative reports and is especially helpful for newly assigned supervisors who want to refresh their report writing skills.
